Following the government’s decision that angling is prohibited during the lockdown we are closing all of our waters with immediate effect. Anyone currently night fishing is required to leave by 09:00 on Wednesday 6th January at the latest. After this time, additional padlocks will be placed on all access gates to ensure there is no access to any club property for anyone other than club officials.
During the lockdown, bailiffs and other club personnel will regularly visit each water to check for poachers and ensure all is in order. Shooting will be taking place to scare cormorants in line with our licences by our nominated firearms personnel. All official persons will be in possession of a letter stating they are on club business. Anyone else found on any club land will face a disciplinary hearing, a sole individual faced this in the first lockdown and was subsequently banned from the club.
We appreciate this situation is not what any of us want. However, it is for the greater good. By ensuring our members comply with both the letter and spirit of the regulations we will all be doing our bit to fight this dreadful virus and help the return to better days.
As always, we are indebted to the continued support of all our members. The club is a trust that does not run for profit, nor do any officials benefit from any honoraria. Every penny of your membership subscription is used to develop & grow the club and to maintain & improve our waters. We cannot wait to welcome you all back.
Wishing you the very best of health,
The CAC Committee.
