Game Overview

The Club offers an excellent selection of game fishing across its portfolio of waters. These include twelve venues where migratory fish can be targeted across the Hampshire Avon, Dorset Stour and Frome. We also have brown trout and grayling present in many of our running water venues. In addition to this, Whitesheet Lakes is a 3 pond, managed trout fishery where rainbow, brown and blue trout are stocked.

Migratory Fish membership is included in all memberships or can be purchased as a standalone subscription online or via our office.

Members wishing to fish Whitesheet Lakes must purchase a ticket beforehand (online or in local tackle shops) to cover the number of fish they wish to take or at a small fee to fish catch & release (rules apply – please see main Whitesheet venue page). Monthly matches are held with the venue being strictly members and their guests only.

Brown Trout & Grayling

Brown trout are present in most stretches of river we have. The majority of our river venues are lightly fished allowing the game angler to explore at their leisure the many miles of bank available. Many of our river fisheries offer the opportunity to fish for brown trout from 1st April, see full ‘fisheries’ pages for comprehensive details.

Specimen grayling can be caught in the Avon, Stour and Frome. This majestic species feed in even the coldest weather and our members have reported 3lb plus fish each season for a number of years.

Salmon & Sea Trout

All our memberships include migratory fish angling. This gives the option to fish for salmon and sea trout on twelve of our venues in the relevant season, providing you have the appropriate EA rod license.

Standalone Migratory Fish Membership is also available at £120 for those who do not wish to fish on any coarse venues, or at our manages trout stillwaters at Whitesheet.

A 0% interest payment scheme is available for all making full membership just £15.00 a month.

The Club has many miles of fishing on the Hampshire Avon and Dorset Stour, giving the angler the chance of connecting with one of these special salmon. Avon salmon are known for their quality and size.

During the Spring, the angler has the chance of connecting with one of the Avon’s legendary springers. Though few and far between, anglers who have caught their fish of a lifetime will tell you that all the effort was worth it, when they see a near 30lb bar of silver in the bottom of their landing net!

On the Stour, salmon can be taken throughout our portfolio of venues. In 2016 this included a fish landed as far up as The Leaze, in Wimborne.

The Club’s Lower Avon waters (Winkton, Sopley and Bisterne) provide the opportunity for the angler to connect with a sea trout. They are a fairly elusive quarry, but good fish run the lower river. The Stour also has a good run of fish with coarse anglers reporting good specimens each year, particularly from the many weirpools that can be found across our stretches. Our stretch of the Frome also produces good fish each season.
