River Frome at Waddock Farm

Brief description of fishery:

At Waddock we have 1500m of main river, single bank fishing and 300m of the North Stream which is a smaller carrier. This is a stretch of prime middle Frome chalk stream fishing situated a little way downstream of our Tincleton Fishery. The stretch offers some of the best brown trout and grayling fishing on the whole river. From April to mid-October, the river is strictly game fishing only, and only traditional game fishing tackle and methods can be used. During the game season the Upper beat is bookable, making it exclusive for up to 2 rods for the day. We have left the Lower beat and the North Stream at Waddock as open beats, allowing anglers to drop in without booking. From 15 October to 14 March specimen grayling are the main quarry, and coarse fishing methods are allowed. To preserve the fish, we are asking members to only float fish for the grayling and not to use leger or swim feeders.

In addition to the general club regulations, the following apply to this venue.

Special Regulations

  • Coarse fishing – 15 October – 14 March.
  • When lure fishing for coarse fish and pike, no spinners, spoons or devon minnows to be used to reduce the risk of hooking out of season Salmon and Sea Trout.
  • Game fishing – 01 April – 14 October.
  • During the game fishing season, the Upper Beat must be booked using the Clubmate app prior to fishing. No access to this beat during the game season unless booked.
  • You must familiarise yourself with the game fishing regulations in the members handbook before game fishing.
