Waddock Lakes

Brief description of fishery:

A complex of 14 lakes and a mile long stretch of the River Frome (Single bank).

Lake 1 – The stock levels are relatively unknown with the lake currently offering ‘wild fishing’ for members to explore and catch the resident large carp, tench and pike.

Lakes 2 and 4 – These lakes have been joined together and contain a good head of carp from singles to +30lbs with a small number of very large grass carp with the biggest over 44lbs. The carp move around the lakes a lot and can often be found basking in lake 2 in the heat of the day providing floater fishing opportunities and as evening and night approaches returning to the deeper water of lake 4 where fishing bottom baits becomes more productive. The lakes have also produced some big bream well into double figures, and the tench fishing potential has not been fully explored. Pike and perch are both present and worth targeting in the winter months.

Lake 3 – This is a small, heavily weeded and tree lined lake, which for the moment has been left wild. Carp and Grass carp have been spotted here, and all other species are likely to be present.

Lake 5 – This is a relatively small and intimate water with a stock of around 20 specially selected carp and a handful of originals to +30lbs. It also contains tench, rudd and pike. This lake has been left wild and weedy to provide a more traditional and challenging fishing experience.

Lake 6 – This lake has been set aside for tench fishing and contains a good head of tench with fish over 6lbs being caught fairly regularly, the possibility of a +7lb fish is always there. There are also bream, pike, perch, eels and rudd in the lake. The lake has lots of lilies and weed, so taking a weed rake is essential, but please leave the weed in the water and do not pile it up on the bank. Traditional tench fishing methods work well, and the fish will get your swim fizzing and driving you mad.

Lake 7 – Is being developed as a match and pleasure fishing lake with platforms making for easy and relaxed fishing. It currently offers good tench fishing along with numbers of smaller carp. At the moment, we recommend you take a weed rake or spend time looking for clear patches in the weed. All other venue species except grass carp are present.

Lakes 8 and 9 – These have been joined together and are being developed as pleasure fishing lakes, but have yet to be stocked so currently offer wild fishing for relatively unknown fish, it contains tench, rudd, perch and pike.

Lake 10 – This is a small weeded and over grown lake, it will be left as it is. Feel free to check it out.

Lakes 11, 12, 13 and 14 – These four lakes are joined up with connecting channels and are split with a large spit which runs almost the entire length of lake 11 giving the fish plenty of cover and protection. They are being developed as a specialist fishery with an emphasis on tench and bream but will have a small head of specially selected carp. The lake has already produced tench over 7lbs and bream close to double figures. Pike and perch are present and are worth targeting in the winter. This is a heavily weeded water which will be left as natural as possible to provide a more traditional angling setting so bring a weed rake, but please leave the weed in the water and do not pile it up on the bank.

Daytime fishing times are 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset. This means entry and exit times. Night fishing is available via the usual methods of booking on, all persons onsite outside the daytime fishing hours need to be in possession of a permit for that night. If night fishing, please keep noise to a minimum.
