Waddock Update from Paul Bullimore Fishery manager
Since the club took over the fishing at Waddock there have been many developments with the most recent being the improvement of access, Otter fencing and swim improvement on lake 11. We are unsure as to the potential and stock levels in this very natural part of the fishery. It has been lightly fished over the last couple of years by a small group of members mainly targeting the Tench. The ‘Tenchfishers’ have volunteered to help us get a better idea as to the stock by organising a couple of group fish ins. These events will raise money for the club and give us a better understanding of what numbers and sizes etc. are in the lake. All fish will be carefully weighed, photographed and recorded. The events will take place on the 27th and 28th of May. The lake will be closed from 7am on the 27th until midday on the 28th. The second fish in will be from 6am on the 18th July until midday on the 20th.
All funds raised will be used for future stocking of lake 11, we will hopefully get additional funding for this from the tenchfishers. Anyone interested in the work done by the Tenchfishers or joining the group please visit their website https://tenchfishers.com
We would like to make this an annual event to chart the progress of the fishery and the effects of any stocking / further management on the fishery. We will post a short YouTube film following both of these events.
